Community Guidelines

Purpose

StrikeMap's real-time chat exists for users to discuss ongoing events, share observations, ask questions, and exchange analysis. It is a space for informed discussion about the conflicts the platform tracks — not a general social platform.

The quality of this space depends on everyone in it. These guidelines exist to keep the chat useful, safe, and focused.

Prohibited Behavior

The following are not permitted in any StrikeMap community feature:

• Doxxing — Publishing or threatening to publish private or identifying information about any individual, including military personnel, journalists, or other users.
• Incitement to violence — Advocating, encouraging, or celebrating violence against any individual, group, or population.
• Hate speech — Targeting individuals or groups based on ethnicity, nationality, religion, race, gender, or other protected characteristics.
• Deliberate disinformation — Knowingly sharing fabricated reports, manipulated media, or false claims presented as fact. Sharing unverified reports is fine if labeled as such — presenting known falsehoods as truth is not.
• Sharing personal information — Do not share personal details of individuals involved in the conflict — names, addresses, family information, or images that could identify private individuals. Public officials and named military spokespersons are an exception when referenced in their official capacity.
• Spam — Repetitive messages, flooding, bot-generated content, or off-topic noise that degrades the chat for other users.

Operational Security

Do not share information that could endanger lives.

This includes but is not limited to:

• Real-time troop positions or movement patterns not already public.
• Locations of shelters, safe houses, or civilian hiding positions during active events.
• Details about military operational plans, timing, or staging areas.
• Information that could be used to target individuals, military units, or civilian infrastructure.

StrikeMap tracks conflict data from open sources. The chat is not a place to generate new operational intelligence that could put people at risk. When in doubt, do not post.

Be Respectful

This platform is used by people on all sides of the conflicts it tracks. Disagreement about facts, interpretations, and politics is expected and welcome. Personal attacks are not.

• Argue positions, not people. “That claim doesn't match the satellite data” is fine. “You're an idiot” is not.
• Do not harass, threaten, or repeatedly target other users.
• Avoid nationalist baiting or content designed purely to provoke an emotional reaction rather than inform.

No Commercial Activity

The chat is not a venue for advertising, promotion, solicitation, or commercial activity of any kind. This includes promoting paid services, affiliate links, fundraising campaigns, or merchandise.

Moderation

StrikeMap moderators monitor community features and enforce these guidelines at their discretion. Moderators can warn, mute, or ban users as they judge appropriate based on the severity and context of the violation.

Moderation decisions prioritize user safety and chat quality. Moderators are not required to justify every action in real time, but all moderation actions are logged and reviewable.

Enforcement Ladder

For most violations, enforcement follows a graduated approach:

• Warning — A moderator notifies you that specific behavior violates these guidelines. Most first-time minor violations result in a warning.
• Temporary mute — Your ability to post is suspended for a set period (typically 1–24 hours). Applied for repeated minor violations or moderate violations.
• Permanent ban — Your account is permanently excluded from community features. Applied for severe violations (doxxing, incitement to violence, OPSEC violations) or persistent disregard for warnings and mutes.

Severe violations — particularly doxxing, incitement to violence, and sharing information that endangers lives — may result in an immediate permanent ban without prior warnings.

Reporting Violations

If you see behavior that violates these guidelines, report it. You can:

• Use the in-chat report function to flag a specific message for moderator review.
• Contact us at team@strikemap.live with details of the violation, including the username and approximate time.

Reports are reviewed by moderators. We do not disclose the identity of users who submit reports.

Appeals

If you believe a moderation action against your account was made in error, you may appeal by contacting team@strikemap.live with your username and a brief explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect.

Appeals are reviewed by a moderator who was not involved in the original action. We aim to respond to appeals within 72 hours. The appeal decision is final.
